Become Certified

As part of our objectives of setting professional standards in enterprise risk management practice, and thereby promoting professionalism among members and practitioners, the Association has introduced levels of certification as below;

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (Becoming Certified)

The process of becoming a certified Enterprise Risk Management professional can be achieved through any of these two routes:

Membership/Practitioners Route

OR

Examination Route

 

MEMBERSHIP /PRACTITIONERS ROUTE

The criteria for becoming a certified member through this route emphasizes experience at work and exposure to risk management responsibilities.

For anyone to qualify through this channel, the minimum qualifications are:

GRADUATE MEMBER

Minimum Qualification   –    BSc / HND or Any approved professional qualification. Higher qualifications Msc /MBA / PhD/ ACIB/ ACA/ACCA/CIMA/ ACS etc will be an added advantage.

ORDINARY MEMBER

  • To become an ordinary member,
  • You must have at least SSCE Certificate or its equivalent
  • You must have at least two years of relevant working experience
  • You must be of good character and be ready to abide by the codes of conduct of the association

STUDENT MEMBER

  • To become a student member,
  • You must currently be a student of a recognized higher institution
  • You must be of good character and be ready to abide by the codes of conduct of the association

GRADUATE MEMBER (To write the examination to qualify for Associate Membership)

To become a Graduate Member,

  • You must have at least BSc / HND or its equivalent from any recognized higher institution
  • You must be of good character and be ready to abide by the codes of conduct of the association
  • MUST write EXAM to become ASSOCIATE.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER

There are currently two different routes to being an Associate member:

Examination Route as stated above, open to all fresh graduates with less than 5 years post-graduation experience

Or

Professional Route – from 5 to 10 years relevant post-graduation experience

Here, the candidates are exempted from writing exam provided he/she possesses:

  • BSc /HND or its equivalent from any recognized institution
  • Additional qualification MCIB, ACIB, ACA, ACCA, CGMA, MBA, MSc or recognized equivalent, is an added advantage
  • You must have at least five years of relevant working experience
  • You must be of good character, repute and be ready to abide by the codes of conduct of the association
  • MUST attend the institute organized Fast Track Course which includes ASSESSMENT

SENIOR ASSOCIATE

To become a Senior Associate,

  • You must have a degree/HND or its equivalent from a reputable higher institution.
  • Additional qualification MCIB, ACIB, ACA, ACCA, CGMA, MBA, MSc or recognized equivalent, is an added advantage
  • You must have at least 10 – 15 years of relevant industry experience
  • You must be of good character and be ready to abide by the codes of conduct of the association
  • MUST attend the institute organized Fast Track Course which includes ASSESSMENT

FELLOW MEMBER

To become a Fellow,

  • You must have a degree/HND or its equivalent from a reputable higher institution.
  • Additional qualification ACIB, ACA, ACCA, CGMA, MBA, MSc, or recognized equivalent, is MANDATORY.
  • You must have at least 15 years of relevant industry experience
  • An associate of a similar recognized professional body with 10years post qualification experience as an associate will also be considered.
  • A fellow of a similar professional body will be considered.
  • MUST attend the institute organized Fast Track Course which includes ASSESSMENT

The above, notwithstanding, in order to ensure that our members remain current and are up-to-date in the knowledge and practice of enterprise risk management, we have packaged series of programs that meets the standard of best practices in ERM, such as: 

MCRE (Mandatory Continuing Risk Education)

  • This is compulsory for all our members and consists of a series of modules on all aspects of risk management. The delivery will be online, supported by class-work.
  • Each member is supposed to attend these courses so as to remain in tune with the knowledge of ERM concepts and practices.
  • It is continuous, and each member has a mandatory number of the MCRE programs to attend in a year in order to qualify for a membership upgrade.

RISK QUIZ

  • This is a virtually administered question and answer sessions for interested members only.
  • Participation is voluntary and prizes will be given to those who excel in the quiz, to be conducted at least once in a month, online.
  • We have established a working relationship with top organizations and high profile professionals to partner with us, hence prizes donated by these partners will be given to winners of the risk quiz monthly.

EXAMINATION ROUTE

 In the nearest future, the only means of certifying members will be through examination.
